Our schools: Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become Australia's largest national educational program for children on the autism spectrum, with 9 independent schools operating from 67 locations in NSW and South Australia catering approximately 1,200 students, with more than 100 classes hosted on the grounds of a less specialised school.
What you will do: Aspect Vern Barnett school is looking for passionate teachers to join our incredible teaching team. You will be located at Forrestvile. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working collaboratively, have a strong ability to differentiate and cater for the individual’s strengths and interests. We are committed to growing and developing our staff in a supportive environment. Implementing our evidence-informed autism-specific approach - the Aspect Comprehensive Approach [ACA], you’ll teach students the skills to be the very best they can be. You will collaborate with students, family, Teacher’s Aide and other therapy professionals to develop and implement Individual Plans. In your small class with it's own teacher’s aide, you can tailor the learning environment to the needs of your students on the autism spectrum. About the School: Aspect Vern Barnett School provides placement for approximately 120 students on the autism spectrum from ages 4 to 16 years from Forestville, as well as from 5 satellite classes within the Catholic and Department of Education schools in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
What we are looking for:
- NESA registration to teach in NSW
- Special Education qualification/s are preferred
- Secondary teaching qualification highly desirable
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or an intellectual disability preferred
- NSW Working With Children Check clearance for paid employment
- A current driver's license
