Aspect Education: Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has grown to become Australia's largest national educational program for children on the autism spectrum, with 9 independent schools operating from 50 locations in NSW and South Australia catering to over 1,200 students, with more than 100 classes hosted on the grounds of a less specialised school.
Aspect is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of our students and this role will play a key role in developing the initiatives and supporting the implementation across all our school settings.
About the role: A challenging, and rewarding project-based role that includes:
- Leading teams to develop and action safeguarding plans and manage safeguarding initiatives for Aspect Education
- Leading development of best practice social and emotional wellbeing programs for students in collaboration with Aspect schools and our research team (ARCAP)
- Leading review of existing Aspect school’s outreach programs and collaborate with Therapy and Aspect Practice teams to coordinate, manage and deliver Outreach Programs
Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding
- Analyse and report to Aspect Education Executive on school-based safeguarding action plans for quality assurance, celebrating best practice and providing recommendations for improvement as required
- Review and provide trend analysis reports to Education Executive from existing risk reporting data bases (Riskman) to highlight areas for development in practice and provide insights to policy implementation in schools.
- Lead additional safeguarding initiatives and/or actions as identified
Student Wellbeing
- Collaborate with School leaders and ARCAP to review and make recommendation for best practice social and emotional wellbeing programs and establish an implementation timeline for the recommended programs
- Implement measures to assess the impact and outcomes delivered by all student social and emotional wellbeing programs
- Report on all student wellbeing programs to inform future direction
Outreach Projects
- Support the Deputy National Director to undertake an extensive review of Aspect Education’s current outreach programs. Collaborate with Aspect Practice and Aspect Therapy teams to identify alignment and make recommendations for future program of work.
Job requirements:
- Recognised University or Tertiary teaching qualifications (as determined by NESA)
- Demonstrated experience in leading wellbeing programs that support and develop students on the spectrum
- Data literacy skills to conduct trend analysis on key information about safeguarding and wellbeing
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong productive partnerships with teams to achieve project goals
- Broad knowledge of student social and emotional wellbeing programs for students with Autism
- Extensive understanding of safeguarding practices in schools
- Capacity to travel across all sites and schools, including two days per week at head office (essential)
- Deep knowledge of Autism support
- Strong focus on consultation and collaboration as an approach to tasks
- High level facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to develop recommendations/business plans for potential new programs in outreach
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Coordinator position
- Current NSW WWCC for employment
- A current driver's licence
A National Police Check clearance is a requirement and Aspect will arrange this.
